Grace Alma Rutledge

Grace A. Rutledge, 90 , was born May 13,1914
near Thomasville , Mo, the daughter of John and
Nora Davis Wilcox and died on Aug. 11, 2004 at
West Vue Nursing Home in West Plains, she
married Oather Edward" Doc" Rutledge Sr. May
23, 1934 at Alton, Mo.
Her entire life was devoted to her children and family.
She was known for her excellent cooking and kindness to her neighbors.
Survivors include 10 children, Patricia (John) Lockett
of Cahokia,IL; Joe (Connie) Rutledge and John (Nickie)
Rutledge, both of Staunton,Va; Mary (Bill) Entenman
of Thayer,Mo; Sharron Rauch WesPlains,MoElizabeth (Harold) Lampley of Brandsville, Mo; Rhonda (Marshall) Collins of Camp,Ar; Randy (Linda) Rutledge of Rochelle,IL; Barbara (Rodney) Brogdon of Defuniak Springs ,Fl; Dennis "Rusty" (Linda) Rutledge of Rochelle,IL; a daughter-in-law,Bettie Rutledge of
Warrenton,Mo' two sisters,Alice Griffith of Alton and
Opal Reser of Mountain Grove; six sister-in-laws, Vera
Wilcox of Baton Rouge, La; Barbara Wilcox of North
Carolina; Necy Chowning of Mountain View, Mo; Laura
Ann "Toots" Woodard,California; Merrell Wallace of
Winona,Mo; and Lavern Rutledge of Birch Tree, Mo;
39 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Oather Edward Jr.; a daughter Lucille
Reeves; tw son-in-laws, Gene Reeves and John Black;
two great-grandchildren, Robert Raines and Jessica
Gill; three brothers, Lee Elvie, and Eugene Wilcox;
four sisters, Lelia Baker, Mary Cooper, Ruth Cockrell,
and Bonnie Reeves Falls.
The funeral was Aug.16, at First Baptist Church in
Birch Tree,Mo, with the Rev.Ray Taylor officating.
Interment was in Oak Forest Cemetery at Birch Tree
with arrangments under the direction of Yarber
Mortuary of Mountain View.
